Buenos dias!

Tracy Lonsdale

Just back from a quick trip to Cabo – Here are my thoughts on what I saw:

Arrived on Friday at 2p – went right over to The Resort at Pedregal.  This is a good property for families, the beach is not swimmable but they have a couple of pools (one just for kids) and the staff is very happy and attentive.  The dining options are FANTASTIC, even if you don’t get to stay at Pedregal, make sure to go to Faralon for sunset drinks or dinner.

I stayed at The Cape a Thompson Hotel – I have to say I loved it.  If you are a really good surfer, you will love the break right in front of the hotel.  The Spa here is AMAZING – you can spend an entire day lounging in the spa area and swimming in the salt water pool directly in front of the spa or in one of the outdoor lounge areas near the Jacuzzi and ice cold plunge pool.  The steam room is HUGE and the spa menu is inventive and very reasonable.  The dining options are great and also very reasonable.

There is something for everyone at this property – the room categories are great all rooms have ocean views if you want to splurge book one of the 3 bedroom  Penthouse suites, the one bedroom corner Panoramic suites are my particular favorites here (there are 5 of those and they book up) and the three bedroom Surfer Suite – all great.

On my way to the airport yesterday – I stopped by the brand new Mar Adentro – THIS IS GOING TO BE FABULOUS once it’s beach front Villas are done!

I then went over to Il Gonzo – this is in the Marina area in San Jose del Cabo – 20 minutes from the airport.  This property is very interesting.  They have a recording studio in the basement.  The invite artist from all over Mexico to come for a week and paint a wall or do some fabulous art installation.  The food at all the dining options is AMAZING!  The view of the fancy yachts and the adorable beach club from the roof top pool/bar are spectacular.  The area is very quiet it’s like the best kept secret in Cabo.

There is a great spa and gym – they offer bikes to ride the trail right outside the hotel which is also great for running in the mornings over to the little village ten minutes away.

I highly recommend all of the above.
