Mandapa

Tracy Lonsdale

I only got to spend one night in Ubud but boy am I lucky I got to stay at Ritz Carlton Mandapa!

What a magnificent property.  The approach from the long driveway is magical.  You are met by the GM and several of the butlers and other staff – welcome drink in hand you move to a deck area overlooking the entire property.

Ubud is the most magical and spiritual spot in Bali.  Some people who have been before say it’s ruined by all the t-shirt shops etc.  I never did go into the main village but didn’t feel it’s ruined at all.  If fact, I can’t wait to go back to Ubud.

The food outlets at the resort are stellar.  We had lunch at the outdoor private space down by the river (forgot to mention they have river rafting).  The food in Bali is so healthy and delicious – I miss it so much.  We had a fancy Michelin worthy meal at Kubu, so special.

This property only has 60 rooms and suites – you would be happy inany category.  Their Kids Club is amazing, with chickens, ducks, rabbits and cows – the space was build by John Hardy (photo above) just loved it – you walk across the rice paddies to get to it and the spa, gym and yoga studio.

I JUST LOVED THE YOGA STUDIO – you can open all the windows and hear the river, SO PEACEFUL and the awesome instructor, Winana Patu was such a lovely spirit and wonderful teacher, just LOVED HIM.

I did have time to go see the Gaya Cermacis store and studio – OMG SO FABULOUS – I AM GOING BACK FOR CLASSES!
